Natural Resources
California is rich in various natural resources. The primary natural resources are trees, grasses, wind, sun and water. Each of the California's geographic regions has an abundance of different kind of natural resources. California desert region produces boron, which is used to make glass. Mountain Pass near Nevada border has a large deposit of rare earth minerals, which is very important for hi-tech electronics. This vast state has a significant deposit of gold, silver, copper, manganese, tungsten and uranium. Along the coast, workers produce oil and natural gas near Santa Barbara and Long Beach. In Mountain region and far north of California has forests which are sources of timbers. Forests help in storage and preservation of ground water for drinking and farming.
The Central Valley is the leading farm region in the USA for fruits, vegetables and nuts. California grows over 200 different crops. California produces almost all of Country's almonds, apricots, dates, figs, kiwis etc. California ranked 2nd in seafood production in the country after Louisiana.
We should also include 150 state parks, mountains, ski areas and beautiful beaches as part of California's natural resources as valuable source of tourism and recreations.
